The short answers

Is it really ten minutes to set up?

Yes, and we’d rather show you than claim it. There’s an unedited video of someone doing it for the first time on the How It Works page. Open the case, set the booth on its base, plug it in.

How many photos can we take?

Unlimited. No per-photo fee, no session cap, no upsell mid-event.

Does someone have to run it?

No, and nobody comes with it. Guests walk up and use it themselves, which is the reason they use it more than a booth with an attendant standing over it.

What if we want someone to work it?

Two ways, depending on the event. For a conference or trade show, hire a local brand ambassador to host it — the booth runs itself, so the job is drawing people over and keeping them using it, and someone local costs less than flying a crew in. For a wedding or a local event, book through Mammoth instead, who staff events with host personalities. Either way the booth is the same booth.

Do I have to make an account?

No. You give us a phone number or email, we send a link, you’re in. There is no password to create and none to forget.

Can I see photos from real events?

The galleryis where they go, sorted by event type and by where people pointed the booth — no backdrop ships, so what everybody else did with the room is the useful part. Portrait Booth started taking bookings in 2026, so it is still filling up, and we would rather show you an empty frame than stock photography of somebody else’s party or a portrait of a guest who did not agree to it.

How do guests get their photos?

Instantly, at the booth. The portrait appears on screen when it is taken, and there is a code on that screen — scan it and the photo is on your phone. If you would rather, send it to yourself by text or email instead. Nobody waits for a gallery link the next day, and nobody has to collect addresses.

Using it on the day

How does the booth know it’s my event?

We send you a QR code before it ships, with a short code underneath it as a backup. Hold the QR up to the booth’s iPad, or type the code, and your event loads in seconds. That is the only thing the booth needs from you.

What does the screen look like?

One line of large text asking you to scan your event code, and then the screen guests use. There is no menu to get lost in and no list of other events to pick from — the booth is set to your event and nothing else. The setup guide shows each screen in order.

Can we use it outdoors?

Yes, with three things to plan for. It needs shade — in direct sun the iPad will overheat and throttle, so put it under cover, a tent or a tree line rather than out in the open. In wind we usually cannot fly the strobe umbrellas, so the light is harder and the pictures look a little different from the indoor ones; still good, just not the same. And if it is breezy, put a weight on the baseplate so the booth cannot go over. Tell us it is outdoors when you book and we will talk it through with you.

What can we personalize?

The wrap is the big one — your artwork or your colors, floor to ceiling, and you can put your logo on it right now without booking anything. The booth also shows your event name back to you when it loads, so you can see it is set to the right thing. If there is something else you want on the screen, ask before you book rather than after — we would rather tell you yes or no while it can still change.

If something goes wrong

What if it breaks?

If it fails on its own, that’s on us—text the number in your confirmation and we’ll work it out, including a refund if the booth never worked. If it’s damaged because it was left in the rain or knocked over, you pay for what was broken at documented repair or replacement cost. We don’t hold a deposit and we don’t charge a blanket damage fee—there’s nothing to charge unless something actually breaks, and you see the evidence before anything is charged.

Can I cancel?

Your deposit holds the date and isn’t refundable—once we’ve committed a booth to your dates we’ve turned away other events for them. Cancel before the balance is charged and that’s all you owe. Rescheduling is free if you give us notice and we have a booth open for the new dates.

What if my event is next week?

We’ll tell you honestly. If we can’t get it to you in time we say so and show you the earliest dates that work, rather than taking your money and hoping.

Money

How much does it cost?

$2,500 for the day, and half that for every day after — so a three-day weekend is $5,000. Shipping is calculated to your address and shown before you pay. A custom wrap and local setup cost extra and the pricing page lists everything.

When do I pay?

30% when you book, to hold the date. The rest is charged automatically two weeks before it ships, to the same card. We text you before that happens.

Why is a three-day booking only twice the price of one day?

Because the booth is out of our hands far longer than your event either way—prep, shipping out, your event, shipping back, turnaround. Day one carries almost all of that cost, so every day after it is half price.

Can we pay by invoice or PO?

Yes, through the talk-to-us path rather than card checkout. Four booths or more, a multi-city run, or anything needing a purchase order goes to a short form so a person can set it up with you.

Getting it there

How does shipping work?

We calculate the real rate to your address and show it in your total—no surprise at checkout. It ships to arrive before your event with a buffer day. The return label is in the box and we schedule the carrier pickup, so you don’t drop anything off.

Can I pick it up instead?

If you’re near one of our locations, yes—and it costs less, not just on shipping. Day one is mostly the round trip, so collecting it lowers the day rate itself; see Pricing for the figure. The configurator offers it automatically when your ZIP qualifies, and says why when it doesn’t.

Do you set it up for me?

In some cities we can send someone to set up and take down. Where we can’t we don’t offer it, rather than promising it and subcontracting a stranger. The booth is designed so you don’t need us.

Do you need power or wifi?

A standard outlet runs it all day. If there is nowhere to plug in, tell us when you book and we build it for battery instead — up to ten hours of photos, with each flash strobe battery good for up to 400 shots. That is a swap we make here before it ships rather than a switch on the booth, so it has to be decided in advance. Wifi is not needed either way; connectivity only matters if you want photos leaving the booth during the event.

Is there a backdrop?

No, and you do not need one. The booth brings its own light and points it at the person, so what is behind them matters far less than it would with a phone. Nothing to hang, nothing to build, and nothing extra in the case. Point it at the room rather than at a wall — and because it is on wheels you can move it when the night changes. We talk placement through with you before it ships.

How far ahead can I book?

Up to a year out.

How late can I book?

About ten days before your event goes straight through checkout — that is what shipping it to you needs, with a buffer day. Anything sooner goes to a person who checks whether it can physically get there in time, and we say so honestly rather than taking your money and hoping.

What do you need from my venue?

One standard wall outlet, and enough room for the booth plus space for people to stand back a little. Nobody from us arrives, so there is no load-in window to schedule and no names for a security list. Exact measurements, power draw and the paperwork a venue asks for are on the venue and logistics page.

Making it yours

Can we put our brand on it?

Yes—a full custom wrap in your colors and artwork, floor to ceiling. Upload your own design or have us make it. Wraps need lead time to print and apply, so the configurator tells you up front whether your dates still allow it.

Can we get prints at the event?

Only when we are handling it locally — that is, if you collect it from us or we deliver and set it up. On those we can bring and run the print station ourselves, so prints at the event are on the table; ask when you book. A shipped booking is digital only, because the print station does not survive being couriered and nobody should be assembling one at their own wedding. Everyone still gets their portrait on the spot either way.

Can we book more than one?

Up to three go straight through checkout. Four or more, or a multi-city run, goes to a short form so a person can work out the logistics with you.

Still have a question?

Four places to go, depending on what kind of answer you need. All of them end with a person if they have to.
